New director for Schmidbauer

German crane rental company Schmidbauer has appointed ex Bayern Munich chairman Karl Hopfner to its advisory board.

Hopfner has now retired from the football business, and has been familiar with Schmidbauer, since the mid 1970s when he was responsible for accounting at the company, and the management of the Fricke-Schmidbauer Schwerlast subsidiary based in Braunschweig. He will work alongside the three other advisory board members Stefan Tomicic, Michael Bourjau and Heinz Schmidbauer.

Karl Hopfner


Hopfner leaves behind a long career at Bayern Munich. From 1983 to 2002, he was managing director at the club, becoming deputy chairman for 10 years he added the post of senior vice president in 2012, and then president of the club in 2014.
