Manitowoc factory closes for one week
Cost-cutting measures implemented by Manitowoc Cranes at its crawler crane factory in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, have led to the factory being closed for one week as of today and 90 workers being laid off for at least a month.
Thomas Musial, Manitowoc Company's senior vice president of human resources said that the move was limited to the factory in Manitowoc, Wisconsin and that none of the company's other factories worldwide were affected.
Musial added that he expected the layoffs to be temporary and end as business picks up. He stressed that only some parts of the production process were affected by the shutdown and added that sales and service were not affected.
Manitowoc Cranes employs about 580 people in Manitowoc.
