Demag for Steel Giraffe

US crane rental company Steel Giraffe has taken delivery of a 45 tonne Demag AC 45 City All Terrain crane.

The AC 45 features a 31.2 metre main boom and can telescope loads of up to 19.7 tonnes. A 7.1 to 13 metre offsettable swingaway extension takes the maximum on board tip height to over 45 metres. The crane was delivered by Terex/Demag dealer Empire Crane and went straight to work on repairs to the Mt. Hope Bridge connecting the Rhode Island towns of Portsmouth and Bristol.

Steel Giraffe’s new AC 45

Steel Giraffe owner Steve Kelly said: “Large lifting companies with multiple cranes have options to get jobs done. I don’t have that luxury. With its capacity and boom length, I know the AC 45 will give me the flexibility to handle many lift jobs. If I could design a crane for what we do, this is the crane I would design.”

Empire Crane general manager Justin Melvin added: “Steve’s business model needed the 45 tonne class Demag AC 45 City crane. It was built for companies who need mobility and work in crowded metropolitan areas.”

Based in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, Steel Giraffe also provides welding and fabrication services, as well as dock building to the states of Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
