SGB wins £2 million order
SGB access services division has won a new contract to provide scaffolding and related access services to the British army for the upgrade of housing at bases in Aldershot and the Salisbury Plain.
The contract which will be phased over a two year period includes modernisation and refurbishment of the housing and other facilities at the two garrisons. The contract has been placed by Aspire Defence, a consortium which includes U.S. contractor Kellogg, Brown and Root and U.K contractor Carillion.
The work is part of the recently announced government initiative to upgrade housing for the armed forces. The project also includes an extensive renovation of office and mess facilities and general living quarters.
Most of the scaffolding will be based on SGB's Cuplok system scaffold. Extension opportunities are also expected as the multi-year programme is rolled out.
