European first for Southern

UK rental company Southern Crane & Access has taken delivery of the first two 25 tonne Kato CR-250Rv city type All Terrain cranes to arrive in Europe.

Launched at Bauma last year, the CR-250Rv features a 29 metre main boom, an 8.2 metre fully hydraulic jib, and 7.5 tonne searcher hook. Power comes from a Stage V Cummins diesel, while a 360 degree camera system and anti-lock braking comes as standard. The new cranes were delivered by UK distributor, Rivertek Services UK, and follows on from an order for a Kato 20 tonne CR-200Rf in 2018.

Kelvin Prince, Southern Cranes & Access director, said: “We added the 20 tonne Kato to our fleet to replace an aging Terex City Crane two years ago. In Bauma last year we saw this new 25 tonne model on the Kato Stand and soon after we placed the order for the first two units which have already gone straight out to work. We look forward to continuing our working relationship with Rivertek.”

Ivan Bolster, operations manager of Rivertek UK, added: “We are delighted to deliver the first two new cranes in the first week of 2020 to Southern Cranes. The newly designed hydraulic pneumatic suspension with ABS braking system makes it a very comfortable and smooth crane on the road. Added to this is the new design vertically mounted fly jib. The fly jib requires very little area to fit and is a one man operation taking only minutes. It is also fully hydraulically luffing and hydraulically telescoping under load.”
