Youngman joins OSEM
Alloy tower and ladder manufacturer Youngman has joined the Organisation for System Equipment Manufacturers (OSEM).
The organisations key role is to alert users of scaffolding and associated equipment to the potential risks of buying cheap copies of proprietary scaffold systems and mixing components within the same scaffold.
It also encourages buyers to check that any scaffold they buy meets minimum standards for quality and safety.

John Bungay, business development director of the Youngman Group said:
“The Youngman Group has been a leading force in the design, manufacture and supply of aluminium access systems for over 30 years. As industry leader, the Company takes very seriously its duty to promote the highest possible standards of safety and awareness amongst its users and within the market in general – and we believe that membership of OSEM is a logical step in that continuing process.
“The Youngman Group acknowledges the excellent work that OSEM is undertaking to improve safety within the broader scaffolding systems market, and is very pleased to be associated with such an organisation and to be able to contribute to the on-going task of improving safety standards and awareness in our industry,” he added.
OSEM chairman, Peter Bennett said:
“OSEM has been established as a means of promoting key factors that users of system scaffolding and other access systems should ask of their suppliers to ensure that equipment meets minimum standards” .
“We believe that if equipment is not specified according to the guidelines that we detail on our website, users of system scaffolding and similar access equipment could be exposed to risks relating to health and safety, insurance protection and corporate reputation,”
“It is a non-commercial organisation that is always seeking new companies to join the fold and we are, therefore, delighted that the Youngman Group has committed to the OSEM principles and objectives.”
