Scottish acquisition for Uperio

Skyline Arcomet, the UK operation of France’s Uperio group, has acquired Scottish tower crane rental and distribution company Highsparks TCS from owner Shane Crozier.

Crozer had previously worked with Terex tower crane dealer and rental company Select Plant Hire, but left to set up Highsparks in 2008, offering a full tower crane service including sales, support, procurement and rental. It will now operate as a subsidiary of Skyline Arcomet and be fully integrated into the Uperio group, while continuing to offer sales, rental and service across the UK from its new premises in Lanark, Scotland. It will progressively take over all of the Uperio group activities in the northern half of the UK. The intention is to expand the business, recruiting additional sales and service staff and another year, to support the larger rental operations, while developing the sales and distribution part of the company.

Highsparks TCS founder and owner Shane Crozier will remain on board as managing director. Speaking of the deal he said: “I am thrilled to be part of one of the largest tower crane service companies in the world and consolidate our position in the UK market. As part of Uperio, we will have much stronger capabilities to satisfy our customers growing needs.”

Skyline Arcomet managing director Darren Whitford added: “Bringing more great people to the company is a great way to start 2020. The company continues to grow, and it is important we bring in the right people as part of that process. We have worked with the team at Highsparks for some time now, and we know that they will continue to prosper within the Uperio group”

Uperio chief executive Philippe Cohet said: “For the Uperio group, this is a geographical expansion within the UK, an important market in Europe and the opportunity to partner with a solid local team. It also illustrates our renewed growth strategy in Europe.”

Uperio was formed last year, following the merger of Belgian tower crane specialist Arcomet and French tower crane rental company Matebat, which already had some shared ownership.
