Cranesafe to handle Orlaco

Orlaco the Dutch based producer of Crane boom tip cameras has appointed Cranesafe, the UK based affiliate of SMIE, the tower crane anti collision system manufacturer.

Orlaco has pioneered the development of load view camera systems and has been producing them for more than 10 years. While a significant percentage of all type of cranes in Holland are now fitted with cameras, few companies in the UK have adopted them.

At the recent tower crane interest group meeting Bovis Lend Lease, a major UK contractor stated that it will be looking for all tower cranes on its sites to be equipped with camera systems form this year.

Tim Rowley, managing director of Cranesafe said:
“The obvious advantage of the ‘Load View Camera System’ is safety, as the driver can look down exactly onto his hook. He is very often unsighted from his hook and totally reliant upon instructions from his banksman. Whilst a camera would never be intended to reduce the responsibility of the banksman, it is a great additional safety factor. At Cranesafe we see this product as another natural progression in the campaign to improve safety levels across all areas of crane operations”.
