Development manager for CIS

US based crane and rigging training company Crane Industry Services (CIS) has appointed Ray Rice as business development manager.

Rice joins from virtual training developer CM Labs Simulations where for the past year he has been eastern account manager. He also worked for CM Labs between 2016 and 2018 as US account manager, with a short spell in between with MES Simulation & Training as director of sales and marketing.

He began his career in the simulator market in 1999 when he was appointed sales director at Sky Precision Instruments. He left in 2008 to join Advanced Flight Components as vice president and general manager. In 2009 he moved to Heartwood 3D as senior account executive, seven years later.

Ray Rice


Rice will be responsible for delivering crane operator and rigger training for the military, utility, port, and construction industries. He will also be responsible for implementing CIS’ latest behavioural simulation tools in its new project management safety programme, Leading Safety Works, which is based on a practical 90 day planning system.

CIS chief executive Debbie Dickinson, said: “Ray is well versed in how simulation-based training, software tools, and technology can be leveraged to improve proficiency of equipment operators and is familiar with CM Labs Vortex simulators.”

Rice added: “I am glad to be a member of the CIS team. My job is to drive innovation in the lifting and heavy equipment training industry and expand how CIS serves customers.”
