Starting this spring, Sennebogen is to invest about €25 million in the 10 ha. site building assembly plants for large cranes and material handling machines, as well as a development and management center and a visitor center for international clients.

Reinhold Perlak, Mayor of Straubing acknowledged the achievements of company founder Erich Sennebogen, whose family business has shaped the industrial history of the region for more than half a century. “Even when you look at it purely from the point of view of the surface area involved, this is the biggest new establishment in the history of Straubing-Sand."

There is also a guarantee for the option of further expansion in the Straubing-Sand industrial park for future development.

In the first construction phase a large assembly hall will be constructed with a total surface area of more than 13,000 sq m. Modern office buildings and social areas will be built in the second phase. Ample external space has been allowed for the assembly and testing of machines, which weight of up to 220 tonnes and have a total extension boom length of up to 125 metres.

Sennebogen currently employs about 1000 people across three production plants, two of which are in Germany (Straubing and Wackersdorf) with a steel plant in Hungary.

The growing global demand for large material loading and lifting machinery as well as the very positive development in SENNEBOGEN sales over recent years are behind the decision to construct a new assembly plant for large machinery.

Since it was first set up in 1952, the business has changed from an agricultural machinery manufacturer to a material loaders and special machinery producer.
The company claims it has about 30,000 machines in use around the world.

The site in Hebbelstraße, Straubing will continue to be the firm’s headquarters. The building work on the new factory is due to start in the spring and machine production is scheduled to start at the beginning of 2008.
