New R&D director for Airo
Airo has announced the departure of technical department director Gianluca Ferramola. A member of the family that founded Airo Tigieffe, he has spent his entire career with the company having joined in 1992.
The company has appointed Gian Luca Bulgarelli to replace him as head of the technical department and R&D director. He joins the company after 10 years with axle and components supplier Borghi Assali where he was a technical engineer. He will officially take up his new role on Monday and will report to managing director Simone Pignatti. As head of the design office his responsibilities will include the development of new models and the adoption of new technologies, with a particular focus on new ‘green solutions’ with zero emissions and greater sustainability.
Sales manager Stefan Weber said: "We are delighted to have Gian Luca Bulgarelli join our team. He is well known and respected in the broader equipment industry and his professional expertise will definitely give Airo a further boost for our future projects."

Bulgarelli added: "I am very happy to have joined the Airo team, we have many new ideas and I'm glad to be able to develop new projects with such a motivated and positive team."
The company statement also said: “The whole company would like to express its sincere thanks to Gianluca Ferramola and wishes him every success in his new challenge.”
Airo was founded in 1980 by Roberto Ferramola who left the business in 2014, sometime after Chinese manufacturer Jingcheng Heavy Industries (JCHI) took a majority stake in the business - see:
