Weyers and Wheeler move

The Manitowoc Crane Group has appointed John Wheeler, currently executive vice president in charge of the Americas region, to the post of global operations executive vice president. Wheeler will continue to report to Manitowoc president Glen Tellock.

In his new role, Wheeler will be responsible for global operational excellence, ensure the execution of strategic and tactical operations efforts across all product lines on a global basis.

At the same time Larry Weyers, currently head of Manitowoc Crane Care, will succeed Wheeler as executive vice president in charge of the Americas region. The appointments are effective July 1, 2007.

Weyers will assume responsibility for providing overall direction and leadership to Manitowoc Crane Group’s Americas region and will continue to report directly to Tellock.

Tellock said “Both John and Larry have proven their strength as an integral part of our leadership team, their global vision and extensive industry knowledge allow us to provide continued customer focus and the best products in the lifting industry.”

Over the next three months, the two will work closely on the transition of duties for the Americas region. The successor for Weyers as head of Crane Care has not yet been named.
