Fatal Crane/platform collision

A man has died after a crane struck the scissor lift he was using at a tyre factory in Norfolk, Nebraska on Saturday.

The incident occurred at the Continental Tyre plant on Saturday afternoon, when an overhead crane struck the extended scissor lift, ejecting Keith Polenske, 50, from the platform. He fell to the ground, apparently landing on his head. He was rushed to hospital, but died shortly after arrival.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office and Madison County attorney Joe Smith are investigating how such an incident could have occurred.
