XCMG ramps up European access ops
XCMG Europe is ramping up its aerial lift operations in Europe with the appointment of Dutch access industry veteran Hans Aarse as access development director,and Edwin van der Laar as sales director.
Aarse made his name in the 1980s as aerial lift sales manager with Gunco which was the Grove Manlift distributor at the time, initially for the Netherlands and then part of Germany. After some years out of the industry he came back as a sales rep for Vertikal in 2004, and Benelux representative for IPAF late the following year. More recently he helped LGMG set up its European operation

Edwin van der Laar entered the powered access market in 2012 when he helped set up Power Towers Netherlands. The following year
he joined Power Towers as European sales manager, a role he held until mid-2020. Last year he was appointed as key account and business development manager for Zoomlion Access in Europe.

XCMG Europe was established in Krefeld, Germany in 2014 to distribute and support the company’s excavator line throughout Europe. The two new recruits will initially focus their efforts on the Benelux and German speaking world although they are also looking for contacts elsewhere in Europe. XCMG is headed by general manager Meng Zhang and his deputy Xuan Du.
The initial product range will include slab electric and Rough Terrain scissor lifts from 13ft to 53ft, as well as the 62ft XGA20ACE all-electric articulated 4x4 electric boom lift, and a new model, the 86ft XGS28KE, all-electric lithium ion powered 4x4 dual 300/460kg platform capacity telescopic boom lift.

The existing diesel powered 86ft XCMG XGS28E in the Collé fleet
The new recruits will be boosted by a major order placed around three months ago by Dutch rental company Collé which consisted of 50 units of the 86ft XGS28E boom lifts along with 50 scissor lifts.

Collé has taken a total of 100 XCMG platforms
In addition the company has made some inroads into the Spanish market with XCMG Ibérica reporting sales of a number of scissor and boom lifts to rental companies SIM Sur and Tecnitel.
