Hewden places £8 million crane order
Hewden Crane Hire has placed an order with Demag Mobile Cranes for 31 new cranes. At a total cost of around £8 million, the bulk of the order comprises mainly Demag AC 35s, AC 50-1s and AC 100s, while the remaining units will be made up of AC 40-1s and AC 120s. Demag will also be delivering a 200 tonne capacity AC 200-1, complete with a 68 metre, 7-section Unimec telescoping boom, as part of the order.

Demag's AC 200-1 will be the largest unit of the 31 machines recently ordered by Hewden Crane Hire
The order follows the recent delivery of a further two Demag units, namely a AC 30 city crane and a AC 200, to Hewden’s Erith depot earlier in the year (see Dec/Jan issue of Cranes & Access).
As yet, it is yet undecided whether the unique aftersales maintenance program agreement between Demag and Hewden, currently applicable to Hewden’s Heathrow and Dartford depots, will be extended to cover the new order. Deliveries of the equipment will begin in the first quarter of 2003.
