Third Nederhoff generation takes over

A third generation is taking over at the helm of Dutch crane rental company Nederhoff.

The company was established in May 1949 by C. (Kees) Nederhoff senior when he purchased an ex-US Army Chevrolet truck and converted it into a mobile crane. Most of his early work involved the unloading of ships at the port, followed by foundation and salvage work.

As the years passed the entire focus of the company moved onto crane rental and transport. He built and managed the company until 1987 when he handed over the day to day management to his four sons Pieter, Kees, Jan and Ron, who have continued where their father left off, but added forklift and aerial work platform rental.
With Pieter having already retired and Kees, Jan and Ron getting there, they have decided to start handing the baton over to a third generation in the form of Pieter’s son Taco and Ron’s son Sjoerd. The transition and handover becomes effective from the start of this month.

Taco has worked at the company for more than 12 years, the last five years as technical director. Before that, he worked for Spierings and others. Sjoerd has been with the company for three and a half years, prior to that he had spent a short spell with the company in 2011, before moving into the financial sector as a market analyst.

The company is based in Vianen south of Utrecht and also operates from depots in Gouda and Rotterdam. The current fleet includes cranes from four to 700 tonnes, heavy haulage equipment up to 500 tonnes and lifting gear, with around 100 employees.
