Sarens forms JV with PSG

Belgian international crane and heavy lift company Sarens has formed a Joint Venture with Scotland’s PSG Marine & Logistics in order to expand its offshore wind support operations in the country.

The joint venture, Sarens PSG, will operate from PSG’s base in the Port of Cromarty Firth, Invergordon, and offer heavy lift and transport solutions, load in/out, assembly and port marshalling services to clients in the renewable energy sector.
Carl Sarens said: “We are looking forward to making this JV a success in the fast growing offshore market where the combination of our heavy lifting and heavy transport expertise, together with PSG’s marshalling capacity and access to deep water quaysides, will bring an added value to the market.”

Steve Clark, the managing director of the Sarens PSG venture, added: “We are extremely pleased to form this joint venture with the reference player in global heavy lift and transport. Having access to Sarens’ market-leading heavy crane, giant ring crane and SPMT fleet and its engineering capability, will enable Sarens PSG to provide clients with the most comprehensive range of heavy lift, transport, assembly, load in/out and port marshalling services currently available in Scotland.”

“The world class facilities at Invergordon and the Cromarty Firth are ideally located for offshore wind sector project execution in Scotland. However, the JV is looking for opportunities at all Scottish marshalling facilities. Sarens PSG has been specifically incorporated to support the rapidly developing offshore wind market and assist in solving some of the current issues around heavy lift capacity, deployment and WTG integration, as the Scottish market scales up to floating wind commercialisation and the Scotwind project build-out.”

The chief executive of the Port of Cromarty Firth Bob Buskie said: “This Joint Venture will deliver an extensive heavy lift design and implementation capability together with a broad range of transport and logistics support services to customers in the fixed and floating offshore wind market who plan to use the Port of Cromarty Firth as their manufacturing, marshalling, storage and integration hub. This new capability will broaden and strengthen the supply chain capability across the whole of the Port and will support our customers commercial contracting frameworks extremely well.”
