New MD for Smart Platform

UK based truck mounted rental company Smart Platform Rental has appointed a new managing director, Joanne Rogers, while Rob Jensen joins the board as operations director.

Smart’s co-founders Andy Burt and Chris Searle move to new roles as chief executive and chief operating officer respectively and will take on a more corporate responsibilities while retaining active roles within the company. The recently appointed non-executive director Jeff Eisenberg completes the five man board.

Andy Burt said: “Chris and myself are delighted to be celebrating our first 20 years in business and also proud that our continued success has paved the way for these key internal appointments, the drive and passion across the entire business remains as strong today as it ever did."

Joanne Rogers joined the company as marketing manager in early 2016 and was promoted to general manager less than three years later and then commercial director in 2020. She began her career with Pitney Bowes, joining Yell as a telesales manager in 2010. After three and a half years with Yell, she left to set up her own marketing practice - B2 Creative Marketing - before being persuaded to join Smart in 2016.

Joanne Rogers


Rob Jensen joined Smart almost two years ago from after a short spell with sheet piling specialist Giken Europe, where he was regional manager. However, he has spent most of his career in the crawler crane rental industry, starting out in 1992 and working with Grayston White & Sparrow, Ainscough, and Hewden as well as PTP-Loxam. After a few roles in the foundation/piling market he joined Balfour Beatty’s crane operation - BPH - as operations manager in 2014. Three years later he was promoted to head up the division before moving to Giken in 2019.
