Two five axle Liebherrs for Poloniato

Italian crane company Poloniato has taken delivery of two new five axle Liebherr All Terrain cranes, a 110 tonne LTM 1110-5.1 and a 150 tonne LTM 1150-5.3 both of which help fill a gap in its fleet between a 100 and a 160 tonne crane.

The five axle LTM 1110-5.1 features a seven section 60 metre main boom plus a 10.8 to 19 metre bi-fold swingaway extension. Two seven metre lattice extensions can be added to offer a maximum tip height of almost 96 metres. It can travel with 13.1 tonnes of counterweight within 12 tonne axle loads. The single engine crane is also equipped with ECOmode, ECOdrive, Hillstart Aid, VarioBase Plus, WindSpeed related load charts.

The five axle LTM 1150-5.3 is equipped with a 66 metre, seven section main boom plus, a 10.8 to 19 metre bi-fold swingaway extension that offsets by up to 40 degrees. A seven metre insert can be added to take the maximum tip height to almost 95 metres and maximum radius to 72 metres. The crane can travel with nine tonnes of counterweight on board within 12 tonne axle loads and 60 tonnes GVW.

The handover

Owner Michele Poloniato said: "We chose the LTM 1110-5.1 because of some of its fundamental features: the ability to take more than 13 tonnes of counterweight on board, the 60 metre telescopic boom and the VarioBase Plus outrigger system. We plan to use the LTM 1110-5.1 mainly for erecting and dismantling tower cranes.”

"Size and performance are in excellent proportion on the LTM 1150-5.3. It offers a 66 metre telescopic boom. What is also special is the possibility to drive on public roads with nine tonnes of counterweight. We also like the single engine strategy with mechanical drive of the superstructure eliminating weight there, which is used for the longer boom and more lifting capacity. This allows the five axle crane to do many jobs without extra counterweight transport. This makes it quickly ready for use on the construction site and saves costs. The crane will be used in the assembly of prefabricated reinforced concrete elements for industrial buildings.”

"We have been working with Liebherr since 1998 and during this time have purchased a total of 11 new and used cranes."
