The crane - purchased through UK distributor Kranlyft - is rated at seven metres and features a four section main boom and four section luffing upper boom/jib for a maximum tip height of 45 metres. It can lift one tonne at a 28 metre radius or take 500kg to 36.5 metres. An optional work platform attachment offers a working height of just over 41 metres. Standard features include self-levelling outriggers, extendable counter weight, slew limit settings and point to point memory function. The company also took the hybrid power pack option for the crane functions, allowing it to work emission free when needed.

Directors Ian and Lee Wolstenholme visited the Klaas plant last October along with other team members and were impressed enough to place their first order. They specified it on a Volvo FMX 340 chassis with a sleeper cab and right hand drive.

Lee Wolstenholme said: “We chose the Klaas due to road routing issues for All Terrain cranes in his area, along with increasing fuel costs, which the Klaas helps with both issues.”

Based in Mexborough, near Doncaster, Highcliffe Engineering was established in 1983 by Ian Wolstenholme as a steel fabrication company, but having acquired its own crane in 2000 to help with steel erection, the business has gradually developed a crane rental business alongside the steel operation. It has also started building a telehandler fleet.
