Crane overturns onto retirement home

A truck crane / Boom truck overturned onto a retirement home in Apple Valley on the south east side of Minneapolis, Minnesota on Friday June 9th.

The recovery gets underway

The crane, a 50 ton Manitex 50155 from the J&J Crane Service fleet of Red Wing, Minnesota, was helping a contractor replace the roof when the operator appears to have taken the load beyond a safe radius for the slew position or outrigger setting.
Thankfully no one was hurt in the incident, but the home had to be evacuated while the crane was recovered. Two heavy wrecker trucks and a larger crane were brought in to recover the stricken crane.
