Luxembourg based Subsea7 has ordered a 500 tonne Huisman electric offshore mast crane.
The crane will be manufactured in Schiedam in the Netherlands and is due to be installed on one of Subsea7’s pipeline vessels and deployed for deep water installations. It will be equipped with an Active Heave Compensator on the main hoist to counter the vessel’s heave motion when landing a load on the seabed.
Huisman chief executive David Roodenburg said: "We are delighted to announce this contract of our valued client, Subsea7. Our pursuit of continuous improvement has led to the upgrade of our offshore mast crane to an impressive 500 tonnes, showcasing our dedication to innovation and client satisfaction."
The company has built more than 50 electric offshore mast cranes which have the capability to reach depths of up to 5,000 metres.
Established in the Netherlands in 1929, Huisman began as a steel construction company. Over time, it transformed into heavy lift and offshore equipment design and manufacture. In the 1960s, the company shifted its focus to developing crane and lifting solutions for offshore and heavy lifting purposes. Today, the company employs over 2,500 worldwide.
