Zoomlion’s big boom arrives in N. America

The first two units of Zoomlion’s 215ft ZT68J telescopic boom lift to arrive in North America have been sold. It has, of course been renamed for the local market as the ZT215J.

The first unit has apparently already been delivered to Groupe ELG in Quebec, Canada. The company has its own fleet, but also acts as a distributor for the region.

The second unit, however, was shipped to Mexico where its displayed to Mateco subsidiary Segamac, which has the master distribution for Zoomlion aerial lifts in the country. We are told that company owner Pascal Vanhalst personally tested the machine and took it all the way up to its maximum working height of 67.5 metres.

The Segemac/Mateco unit was then shipped to the New Orleans area in time for the ARA Show this week, but being way to big for the stand, was set up at a facility around 40 to 50 miles away, where it was demonstrated to visitors, which had a few hours to take a side trip from the exhibition.

We understand that after this and some other demonstrations it will go back to Segemac in Santa Catarina, near Monterrey, Mexico
The ZT68J was unveiled at Bauma China at the end of 2020, and so far most, if not all of the units delivered have gone to customers in China.

The specifications are impressive the five section boom plus two section articulating jib delivers 31 metres of outreach with the unrestricted 300kg platform capacity, while the maximum platform capacity of 454kg is available at an outreach of just over 25 metres. Overall stowed width is 2.5 metres, which increases to around 5.5 metre in work mode. Total weight is just under 36 tonnes.

Experience matter. They are coming to the USA and will soon replace and speed up many old methods for working heights of up to 300 feet. This machine already has a big brother at almost 250 feet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJXju5xty9c
