Felbermayr adds to management team

Austrian crane, access rental and heavy lift and shift group Felbermayr has added to the senior management team of its construction related division - Felbermayr Bau, with the appointment of civil engineer Bernhard Strasser as technical managing director. He joins current joint managing directors Stefan Hielle and Rainer Traunwieser to create a three man team.

Hans Becker takes over Strasser’s previous role as head of the civil engineering division, having managed the infrastructure construction team for the past three years.

Strasser joined Felbermayr in March 2021 from Austrian contractor Porr, where he was head of the major earthworks division for the previous three years. He began his career in 2000 with the contractor Alpine Bau where he eventually led the road infrastructure department. After more than 12 years with the company he left to join Hinteregger & Söhne in a similar but more senior role. He moved to Porr five years later.
Chief executive Horst Felbermayr said: “Thanks to continuous growth and numerous acquisitions, the company has had a real growth spurt in recent years, which is the main reason for agreeing to the suggestion by long term construction managing director Stefan Hielle to expand the general management team.”

Stefan Hielle added: “We are in a fast-changing environment and have expanded our service range continuously in recent years, which necessitates sharing the work. Getting Bernhard Strasser, an experienced civil engineering expert, from within the ranks for this position was a stroke of luck. He has been part of the team as divisional manager for civil engineering in Austria for three years and was qualified for this role perfectly, due to his technical expertise and his staff management skills.

Strasser said: “I am looking forward to the great and exciting challenge. We can continue to face the volatile market conditions in the future and set the right course when it comes to the challenges of digitisation and sustainability in the building industry.”
