Terex Utilities held its 39th annual ‘Service School’ in June for 59 participants from Canada and the US aiming to provide equipment technicians with further knowledge on inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, servicing and operating equipment.
The event was held at Lake Area Technical college, west of Minneapolis, and consisted of nine stations that included training on specific aerial devices and general instruction on maintenance and inspections.

Terex Product Support Tech Will Biberdorf said: This year we added a class on the new ANSI standard for 15 year structural testing which states that structural tests are required after a unit has been in service for 15 years, then every 10 years thereafter. This station covered all that this entails and participants got to perform an actual test on an aerial unit.”
Learning about an aerial work platform
While training is geared towards technicians, other people such as trainers can also benefit.
Roger Pothier, instructor at Canadian based Live Line Utility Training said: “My goal is to be able to go back to Canada with more Terex content for my training program. The demonstration materials and teaching aides they are using here are second to none. I am learning a lot of small tips and tricks that will definitely add value to my courses, and I know I will better represent the Terex product because of this hands on learning.”
