Tadano has confirmed that its 90.7 tonne/100 ton all electric Evolt eGR-1000XLL-1 Rough Terrain crane is now ready to go into full production and that the order book is now open for the North American version for the USA and Canada.
It will have the same lifting capacities as the diesel powered GR-1000XLL-4 launched in 2020, but will offer up to seven hours of lifting or five hours of lifting plus five and half a mile of jobsite travel from a single charge. For pure travel it has a 16 mile range at 11 miles an hour and includes regerative braking. The crane can be recharged from a standard 480 VAC grid power, taking approximately five hours for a full charge, or two to three hours on a CCS1 charging system. The company says it can save around 22 tonnes of CO2 emissions a year compared to the diesel.
As with the prototype unit displayed at Conexpo last year, it features a five section 51 metre main boom and 10.7 to 17.1 metre bi-fold swingaway extension which offsets by up to 45 degrees. It also has a new ‘Smart Counterweight’ system providing the operator with two counterweight positions which, boosts capacities by up to 20 percent when in the extended position. Maximum radius on main boom is 47.2 metres. The forward counterweight position provides a reduced tailswing, while the 11.2 tonnes of counterweight can also be easily removed and installed.
The eGR-1000XLL-1 also features ‘Lift Visualizer’ which includes a suspended load monitoring camera for observing loads from above, aimed at work in areas with limited visibility, such as rooftops. It displays key lift information like radius, capacities, and load on a screen, in order to improve efficiency and safety. Another new feature is the automatic accelerator that adjusts motor speed depending on the position of the joystick controller.
Through the Tadano Evolt app, operators can see important information such as battery status, operating history and distance to destination when the crane is travelling. They will also have access to the Hello-Net telematics system designed to assist with crane management by providing operational details including work history, machine position data and maintenance schedules.
