Dutch crane rental company Kuiphuis Kraanverhuur has taken delivery of its third Spierings SK2400-R eLift electric crawler self-erecting mobile tower crane taking the number of Spierings eLift cranes in its fleet to nine.
Spierings claims that the new crane is the strongest mobile tower crane ever built on a tracked undercarriage. The maximum capacity is 18 tonnes at 14.6 metre radius, with a choice of two jib lengths - 42 or 50 metres, with 5.5 or 2.5 tonnes jib tip capacity respectively.
Two units were ordered initially with the first arriving in June and the second in September, but after seeing the units in operation, Kuiphuis decided to order a third. The first two crawler cranes are currently operating on an infrastructure project in Amstelveen and an apartment complex development in Gouda.
Owner Bob Bruijsten said: “After becoming convinced by the mobile crawler crane concept from Spierings, we have noticed that there are many construction sites where the eLift concept truly shines. The battery solves local grid congestion for our clients, while still allowing the crane to operate at full capacity. The eLift cranes are ideal for projects in residential construction, utility building, infrastructure, and (concrete or steel) hall construction. For these cranes, no construction site poses a challenge.”
“This third crane of the SK2400-R model, with a 50 metre boom, is perfect for many construction sites in the Netherlands and even beyond. After arrival in our yard the crane is due to go directly to site for its first project.”
Spierings' business development engineer Mathieu Braamhaar added: “It’s wonderful to see that our Dutch made product making a valuable contribution to our clients’ projects, both in the Netherlands and abroad.”
Based in Oldenzaal, east of Apeldoorn near the German border, family owned Kuiphuis Kraanverhuur was established over 115 years ago and now operates from branches throughout the eastern, northern and central Netherlands with a branch in Bad Bentheim, Germany just over the border from Oldenzaal. It has around 100 employees, while the crane fleet also includes All Terrains from 40 to 250 tonnes.
