New Terex luffer

Terex Tower Cranes has introduced a new 32 tonne luffing jib tower crane, the CTL 702-32 with a fair bit of new technology to improve speed and control along with quicker, easier and safer assembly.

The CTL 702-32 features a 70 metre jib with a jib tip capacity of six tonnes. Other features include a highly competitive free standing heights and a more powerful luffing motor, for "greater speed, control and reliability".

Terex says that safety was a top priority when designing this crane, with enclosures and handrail protection to prevent the risk of falling objects, while providing greater protection for technicians and operators during maintenance, operation, and assembly/disassembly. In addition to this, the crane features a slack rope system, which provides a smooth, uninterrupted lifting process by preventing slack rope conditions that could compromise crane stability and load security.

The erection and dismantling process has also been significantly improved on the new CTL 702-32, with standardised pins and bolts, fewer tools required, and smart assisted assembly solutions that make it quicker to assemble and dismantle. The design also optimises the use of connectors, making maintenance simpler and more efficient by reducing the number of cables and connectors that need to be managed. Additionally, the crane’s main assembly is completed on the ground, further improving safety and ease of setup.

A new T-Line system is said to have the ability to place loads more precisely during jib luffing, ensuring a consistent load height is maintained, while T-Torque inverter technology provides torque control for precise and operator adjustable slewing.

Global sales director Lee Maynard said: “Our goal is to deliver not only cutting-edge technology but also a real solution to the challenges faced by construction teams on the ground. The CTL 702-32 exemplifies our dedication to providing the highest level of control, which we believe enhances safety and efficiency. We’ve designed the CTL 702-32 to help operators work faster, safer, and smarter—improving overall site productivity while reducing risks.”

Product manager Angelo Cosmo added: “Every feature, from the advanced slack rope system to the precision torque control and faster assembly process, has been meticulously designed with the end user in mind. Our focus on continuous improvement means this crane is not only a machine but an investment in safer, more efficient construction projects worldwide.”

“The more precise the control, the safer and smoother the operation, minimising downtime and maximising efficiency. We embedded this philosophy in the design and functionality of the crane to provide a more seamless experience for operators and crews alike.”
