New owner for Hyva

German commercial vehicle safety systems and component manufacturer Jost has acquired the Dutch loader crane group Hyva. The move was allowed to go ahead from the start of the month, following approval from the competition authorities at the end of January.

The move is part of Jost’s plans to become a leading supplier of equipment for commercial vehicles and ff-Highway equipment.

In addition to its cranes, which include the Hyva, Amco Veba, Ferrari and Kennis brands, the company is the world’s leading producer of tipping cylinders, it also makes hook-loaders and skip loaders.

Hyva was established in 1979 and operates from headquarters in Alphen aan den Rijn - half way between Amsterdam and Rotterdam in the Netherlands, it is active in more than 110 countries with over 3,000 employees and 14 production facilities in Brazil, China, Germany, India, Italy, and Mexico.

Jost chief executive Joachim Dürr said: “With the Hyva brand as part of Jost, we are strengthening our business structure, customer base, and market positioning. Founded more than 70 years ago, Jost is listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, its products include fifth wheel couplings, landing gears, ball bearing turntables, kingpins and container locks, truck and trailer axles, along with Rockinger tow hitches and drawbar eyes etc plus Tridec steering systems and axle suspensions for trailers. The company employs over 7,500 staff worldwide and has sales and production sites in 35 countries, and operations on six continents.
