Ashtead’s US move goes ahead
Ashtead, owner of Sunbelt Rentals has obtained shareholder approval for its plan to delist from the London Stock Exchange and become a subsidiary of a new holding company Sunbelt Rentals, listed on the New York Stock Exchange and based in the state of Delaware.
The approvals were given at two meetings held at its lawyer’s offices today, having been convened by an order of the High Court of Justice made on 7th May. The second meeting was an Extraordinary General Meeting of the company to approve matters related to the Scheme. All was approved as expected.
It is possible that the High Court will still ‘sanction’ the move and prevent the move. Assuming that does not happen the necessary transactions will take place next spring.
