Fatal shock

A man was killed on Monday, following an electric shock in sustained while trimming trees from a trailer lift in the Stirling Heights suburb of north Detroit.

The man, 41, was a school bus driver, but was apparently helping the crew that were trimming trees, clearing them from the overhead power lines alongside the school bus depot. He was working from the platform of a 35ft JLG T350 trailer lift, when he simply moved too close to the power lines and was rendered unconscious by the shock.

As soon as the local utility, DTE, confirmed that it was safe the emergency services/fire crew used the emergency lowering on the lift to bring him down. Having failed to resuscitate him fully, he was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The news bulletin below shows a little more detail.
