UK heavy haulage and industrial installation company Allelys has promoted Richard Beardmore to managing director, while David Allely moves to chairman.
Beardmore joined the company in May 2021 as senior commercial manager and was promoted to his current position of commercial director in 2024.
Richard Beardmore
He began his career in 2006 when he joined the British Army’s Royal Engineers. After serving for almost six years, he left for heavy lift and transport company ALE as a project manager and was promoted to sales manager in 2014.
In 2017 he moved to transport and logistics company Deugro as a key account manager, leaving for a similar role with Mammoet in late 2019 leaving for Allelys a couple of years later.
David Allely has spent his entire career with the family business, starting out on the shop floor, working in the machine shop and then the general workshops, before moving into the office. After a while, he took over the running of the international haulage part of the business, followed by the heavy haulage division.

He said: “It is essential that Allelys remains a family owned and sustainable business. We are in a position where we are in high demand and highly regarded within our field, and that’s something we are incredibly proud of. The business has grown substantially, both in scale and capability, and with that growth comes new opportunities and challenges. Richard has clearly demonstrated the qualities of a managing director during his time with the company, and we’ve worked closely together to achieve the goals of the business.”
Beardmore added: “I have a huge amount of respect for David, his knowledge and experience in the industry are second to none and I’m proud to follow in his footsteps as we continue to build on the company’s success. During my time as commercial director, I’ve always focused on how we can grow responsibly and strengthen our service offering to our clients whilst exploring new areas where we can add value. I’m excited to expand that focus across all areas of the business.”
Based in Warwickshire, Allelys was founded in 1959 when Maurice Allely started an agriculture contracting business and purchased a livestock haulage business with his father Hector Charles Allely. The company diversified into heavy haulage in 1977 with its first heavy tractor and 50 tonne low loader. Acquisitions followed including Powells Tractors Martley in 1983, creating the heavy haulage division, and Febland International in 1986, forming Anglo Italian Transport which later became Allelys International Transport.
The company now operates from a 12 acre facility in Redditch, offering heavy haulage, transport and installation services across the UK and internationally.
