French telehandler and aerial lift manufacturer Manitou has opened a new subsidiary in Indonesia today - Manitou Indonesia Perkasa.
The new subsidiary is based on a trading estate in Bekasi, a suburb on the eastern edge of Jakarta, with a workshop and good sized yard. It will focus on the wholesale rental (Rent to Rent) and support for Manitou telehandlers, Rough Terrain forklifts, and aerial work platforms to help rental companies meet the growing demand for rental equipment.
Manitou Indonesia Perkasa
Existing Manitou and Gehl distributors already offer and support their products, including forklifts, loader backhoes and skid steer machines.
Speaking of the move, Manitou said: “Indonesia is currently one of the most dynamic economies in Southeast Asia and the largest economy in the region. Its annual GDP growth reached five percent in 2025, with forecasts projecting a further five percent in 2026, driven by massive infrastructure development, with the Indonesian government planning to invest $617 billion between 2025 and 2029, and a booming industrial sector. As a result, demand for handling and lifting equipment is growing steadily.
The construction equipment rental market is expected to reach $795 million by 2029, representing an average annual growth rate of nearly nine percent. More specifically, the Indonesian forklift rental market is projected to grow from $108 million in 2025 to $162 million in 2031. This rapidly expanding rental market represents a strategic opportunity for Manitou and its rental customers.”
Regional vice president Bernd Freudenmann said: "Our new Indonesian subsidiary reinforces our presence in Southeast Asia within a high potential market. This new location aligns perfectly with our new ‘Lift roadmap’, with a commitment to being as close as possible to the needs of our dealers and rental customers."

Oh and in case you wondered - Perkasa? In both Indonesian and Malay languages it apparently translates as Mighty.
