400t flagship for Delden

UK rental company Delden has taken delivery of a 400 tonne Liebherr LR 1400 SX crawler crane, its new flagship crane.
The LR 1400 SX arrives on site with Delden

The crane was designed to be relatively easy to transport and, once on site, can completely self-assemble with all pins hydraulically installed and locked. The tracks, which extend from an overall retracted width of 4.8 metres to a maximum width of 8.4 metres, feature four motor drive - two on each track.

A choice of fixed or luffing jibs up to 113 metres provides a maximum system length of 178 metres. The crane control system also adjusts the load chart to cope with barge tilt angles. It shares the same luffing jib components/sections as Delden’s 300 tonne LR 1300.1, allowing equipment to be shared between the two.

Managing director Sean Nyland said: “We are not a company that wants to chase ever larger heavy lift projects or step outside our key market of long term crane hire. We know our customer base and our core markets, and we will continue to serve this sector to the best of our ability, working with many long standing customers and delivering the high levels of service and reliability they have come to expect.”

Based in Nottinghamshire and founded in 1975, Delden runs a fleet of lattice and telescopic boom crawler cranes from 60 to 400 tonnes and also provides engineering, servicing and repairs. To mark its 50th anniversary last year it took delivery of a 300 tonne LR 1300.1 SX and three 160 tonne LR 1160.1s. Earlier this year it also added its fifth 150 tonne Liebherr LTR 1150 telescopic crawler crane
