Crane topples onto house
A Grove All Terrain crane owned by Brierley Hill-based MD Crane Hire toppled onto a house while lifting five metre long steel girders. The three axle crane was lifting the beams over a house in Hadcroft Grange, Lye, Stourbridge when it toppled and punched a hole in the roof with its jib.
The driver escaped unharmed from his cab and it is thought that no-one was in the house at the time of the accident.
The falling load crushed a dormer window and left a gaping hole in the roof.
M.D Crane Hire dispatched an Iron Fairy crane to help right the larger crane.
Health and safety officials are expected to visit the site today to assess the damage and risk to the residents.
