Man rescued from boom lift

Firefighters rescued a man from the basket of his self-propelled boom lift yesterday in the Venice area of Marina Del Rey California, after he boomed into and became entangled in overhead power lines.

Firefighters untangle the machine from the overhead lines after removing its operator

The man was fortunately not injured, according to some local reports when the boom contacted the power line, it "relayed out" and became de-energised, as it is designed to do.

Power was knocked out to around 20 or so homes for a couple of hours while the man was rescued.
