Prison break by crane

A prisoner, Xie Wanli, 28, escaped from a prison in Baoding City in Hebei province, China, by driving a crane that had been working in the prison, at full speed past three security lines and then smashed through the prison wall and drove off.

One in the street he crashed into several cars in an attempt to block off any pursuit. Xie is serving 18 years for a robbery and kidnapping offence in 2005.

Police have offered a reward of 100,000 yuan ($14,000) to those who provide useful information that may lead to his capture.
