Crane tragedy

A crane operator tragically killed his eight year old son yesterday in Sutrio, North west Italy. The man was apparently lifting some material with his crane when his son stopped by the construction yard to say hello.

The load fell some six metres from the crane onto the boy as his father watched unable to stop it. Doctors rushed to the scene along with firemen and ambulance and desperately tried to save the child, but he died an hour later in the arms of his parents from serious chest and head injuries.

The father is apparently a well known craftsman in the small town of Sutrio which has called for a day of mourning.
