Using an alloy scaffold tower is a safe way of working…. If you use the correct parts. Many thanks to a reader who took the following photo of a self employed builder working on a house in the UK this Sunday some four metres or so in the air.

An accident waiting to happen on this home made bridge

The tower looks relatively new and up to the platform well assembled, but look at the platform! Additional planks provide a makeshift bridge to the window, nothing to stop a fall or the boards slipping or the tower tilting back.

The fact that there are no toe boards or adequate guardrailing on the platform pales into insignificance.
