APEX just days away

Apex 2008 the specialist show for access equipment will open its gates in Maastricht next Wednesday to a record number of new products for the event.

New products will include new booms and Scissors from Aichi, which is keeping the details close to its chest, but expect further models in its international product line - possibly a new 60/66ft telescopic and mide range electrics?.

JLG will unveil a new addition to its popular JLG Toucan range while Haulotte will show its latest telehandler the 17 metre 4,000kg HTL4017.

Holland Lift has a brand new 87ft (26.5 m) platform height electric powered scissor lift with an overall width of just 1.3 metres and a working height of 93ft (28.2 metres).The new lift is designed for both indoor and outdoor use and as such includes four wheel drive and steer.

Nagano, another Japanese manufacturer of high quality slightly different – heavy duty aerial lifts will show two models which are new to Europe. The 18 metre platform height NA180JA crawler mounted articulated boom lift with a dual parallelogram riser, three section telescopic boom and articulated jib. Lift capacity is 227kgs and the unit weighs under 10 tonnes. Please register to see all images

And the 30ft (9.28m) platform height NA90ZA a crawler mounted articulated telescopic boom lift with large – three long by two metre wide scissor lift type rotating platform similar in some respects to the big deck Tadano and Aichi lifts. The unit weighs over seven tonnes and offers 360 degrees rotation and 600kgs lift capacity. Expect these machines to be priced at a premium with the company promoting lower operating costs and greater reliability along the same lines that Aichi takes with its boom lift products.

UpRight will have five new products including the heavy duty scissor lifts which will include the 80ft unveiled earlier this week and the 8.5 metre platform height dual deck extension X28T crawler mounted scissor lift. Expect the JCHI stand to be busy as European buyers get their first chance to see these Chinese built boom lifts in the iron. Equally busy will Manitou with its new booms and mast type lifts. You will also have a chance to see the fruits of its Chinese production in the form of its small scissor lifts, which are built there now. Please register to see all images

On the vehicle mount front there will also be a good deal to see including new van mounts from GSR, the new 3.5 tonne truck mounts from Oil&Steel and a new 70 metre truck mount from Socage which will also be talking about its plans for a 104/105 metre version.

The above is just a small taste of what to expect at Apex this year, if you can get away it will be worth the time.
