New booms and masts from Skyjack and Genie

Both Genie and Skyjack will unveil new boom lifts and self propelled mast type lifts at APEX later today

Skyjack will unveil its first articulated boom lift, the SJ46AJ, a 46ft platform height machine with similar lifting mechanism to the popular Genie Z45/25J, however the company says that the unit offers improved up and over reach, 360 continuous rotation as well as incorporating many of the features for which the company is known.

Skyjack will also unveil details of two new self propelled mast type lifts, with platform heights of 12 and 16ft, both models- the SJ12 and SJ16 Concept, use a box section mast. The 12 ft unit will go head to head with JLG and UpRight while the 16ft will take the concept into territory previously the domain of aluminium forklift type masts. It should add a new dimension to this growing market.

Genie is using the show to display its new 80/85ft straight boom, the S80 and S85, that incorporates a similar lift mechanism to that used on the S60/65 with a parallelogram mounted boom pivot point. The benefits, compared to a fixed boom pivot point, include more compact dimensions and lower weight while maintaining maximum outreach.

The Genie GRC-12 'Runabout Contractor'


The company is also showing a new mast type self propelled lift, the GRC12 will go head to head with the UpRight TM12 and JLG ES1230 with a steel box section type mast.
