Conexpo Russia 2009 cancelled
The second Conexpo Russia, originally scheduled for September 2009 has been cancelled, in order to allow the economy to improve, The 2010 show is currently scheduled for May 2010 at the Transport-Exhibition Complex (TEC) next to the Zhukovsky Airport, Moscow, Russia.
The May date will put it in even closer competition with the well established CTT Show which is scheduled for early June. CTT will go ahead as planned on June 2nd 2009.
Natalia Alexeeva of the Gaz Group, the organiser of Conexpo Russia in partnership with AEM, said: "The Conexpo Russia management committee has wisely decided to look for the maximum benefits for attendees, manufacturers and exhibitors in the next show."
"The decision to hold the next Conexpo Russia in 2010 instead of in 2009 demonstrates our strong commitment to looking for the best way to offer a superior show experience in the most cost-efficient manner. Those involved in planning the next Conexpo Russia see the greatest benefit resulting from this decision.”
Vertikal Comment
The first Conexpo Russia held this year received mixed reviews, with most exhibitors in the crane and access world not particularly happy with the organisation and attendance, so it is probably a wise move to postpone the next one until everyone has taken stock and hopefully the economy has improved.
However it was hard to understand why manufacturers felt the need for a second Moscow show in the first place, moving the date to within two weeks of CTT is bizarre at best. The only advantage is that manufacturers that choose to attend both will be able to use the same exhibits. It is though likely to spoil both shows.
In the current economic climate May 2010 is a very long way off, so it is entirely possible that things might change before then.
