Terex buys refurb centre from United
Terex Aerial Work Platforms – largely Genie - has acquired the assets of a refurbishment facility owned by United Rentals in Modesto, California.
This acquisition is, according to the company integral to its strategy of continuing growth and value-added services for customers.
The facility will carry out customer refurbishments for Genie aerial lifts and will add other Terex products at a later date.
Tim Ford, president of Terex AWP said: “Our customers are increasingly expressing a need to refurbish assets. This refurbishment centre in Modesto will establish us in close proximity to significant installed bases for units in California, Nevada, Oregon and Arizona. We are pleased to be able to provide additional value to our customers by offering them solutions that enhance value through their entire product lifecycle.”
The Modesto refurbishment centre has been in business for 10 years, primarily refurbishing United Rentals’ own aerial lift fleet. Along with the well established facility, Terex AWP will employ the 32 employees. Branch manager, John McPhedran, will report directly to Siva Balakrishnan, vice president and general manager of global services at Genie/Terex.
Genie acquired a similar facility in Waco, Texas - Phoenix Equipment, a year ago.
