Third world access?

A regular reader on holiday last week spotted a crude wooden work platform in use on a new house construction site, that looks like a death trap.

You might be forgiven for thinking that this is not too bad by the standards employed in many third world countries? At least is has a guardrail – even a midrail – for some of its length.

However this was not one of the world’s poorest nations it was spotted in France last week! Clearly there are still plenty of opportunities for those selling or renting scaffold or aerial lifts.
