Going for a ride

95 year old Florence Morgridge was granted her long desired wish to take a ride in an aerial work platform on the occasion of her birthday last week.

Morgridge lives in Portland, Maine and was always fascinated by the fire ladders she saw from time to time.

"When I see those buckets, I always thought I'd love to have a ride in one," she told the local newspaper, so when her birthday came around earlier this month, her niece arranged for her to visit Handyman Equipment Rental in South Portland.

Fully kitted out with a safety harness and short lanyard, together with a purple birthday hat, she was taken up to a height of around 10 metres in a Bil-Jax 3632T trailer lift, as 30 family and friends sang Happy Birthday.

"I loved it, she said after returning to the ground, “it was the best thing I ever did."
