Crane drops boom in Wisconsin

A 150 ton lattice boomed truck crane dropped its 160ft on a job site in Grafton, Wisconsin yesterday. The falling boom caused extensive damage to the crane but missed the building it was working on – the Aurora Medical centre. The operator, Mark Tomaro, 51, escaped with a minor head injury.

The crane a Link Belt HC238, was lifting an 18 tonne precast concrete panel when the acdient occurred.

The damaged crane, both cabs were damaged, but the operator escaped with minor injuries


The main contractor Mortenson, referred any requests for information to the medical centre which has launched an investigation along with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration- (OSHA).
