$10,400 for not wearing a harness
The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has fined Jerico Construction Inc of Mason, Michigan $10,400 for four serious safety violations after an inspection of a job site on Roachton Road in Perrysburg. Ohio on July 27th .
Violations included employees not wearing safety harnesses with lanyards while using an aerial lift, using the lift improperly, not wearing hard hats and working on an elevated surface without protective guardrails.

It is good to see OSHA taking action on some of these items without waiting for an accident to happen. While harnesses with appropriate lanyards are really a requirement in the USA when operating a boom lift, it is rare for such fines to be handed out in such a manner.
Hopefully it will encourage other construction companies to ensure that employees have access to a proper harness and lanyard and that they wear them .
