Man crushed by concrete block

The victim was working at Bell and Webster Concrete in Grantham, Lincolnshire, when the accident happened at seven this morning.

Police, the fire service and ambulances were called to the scene at Alma Road, Grantham where they found the man pinned beneath the large concrete block.

The man was taken to Grantham Hospital suffering severe leg, chest and arm injuries but died soon after.
It is believed that the man was moving the concrete block using an overhead gantry crane when it fell to the ground and crushed him.

The Health and Safety Executive has been called in to investigate the incident.
