Death Wish in Argentina

We kick the New Year off with an interesting application from Ushuaia, Argentina. Clearly the application called for a truck mount so on the basis that need is the mother of invention this crew bodged it and then some.

The scissor lift is on the back of a small truck fitted with a loader crane, so it benefits from front stabilizers. Seems that in order to level up the backend with the pavement/sidewalk, the rear wheels were chocked up.

Spot the number of violations

Additional slabs of timber were jammed under the rear wheels of the scissor lift, which amazingly is not tied down to the truck. Two men are working from the scissor lift, the guardrails of which are touching some overhear wires, while a third man is working from a ladder at a precarious angle from the truck.

There are so many safety violations here that it is virtually a case of spot the errors! They do appear to have at least taken care of cordoning off.

Many thanks to all those of you who have sent us such reports in 2009 and for the several that arrived today. They are much appreciated and serve as an aid for training and raising safety standards around the world.
