The no power Powered Scissor
Russon Access of the UK has launched two brand new non powered platforms one a push around scissor lift and the other an extendable step platform, neither requires Batteries, Hydraulics or external power source.
The scissor lift, interestingly dubbed the Power Scissor, weighs less than 300kgs and offers a maximum platform height of three metres, allowing it cover all work at height in a multitude of buildings.

Unusually for a push around lift it has CE approval for outdoor use as well as indoor, the downside of this is that it has a set of short swing out outriggers although they do offer a set up position for working flush to a wall or tight in a corner and can be used to level up.
The platform is elevated by two sets of gas springs and controlled by a simple hand crank The springs are set to lift 65kgs so the effort on the hand crank which turns a threaded bar is relatively light unless you are seriously overweight.

Elevating the platform is surprisingly easy and practical although coming down from a full three metres is a little tedious. The company has tested a cordless power drill option for elevation and descent and may well offer this as an option.
The lift will easily pass through a single door and offers a 600mm x 1,260mm platform with a step in height of just 660mm.
Price for a multiple order is expected to be in the region of £2,700 in the UK market. The unit should prove to be a good alternative to a small scaffold tower, while appealing to applications where the risk of contamination by hydraulic fluid is a serious concern… or for those who wish to avoid the maintenance and recharging issues involved with electro-hydraulic machines.
